Promotion Tips: search engines The absolute truth of the matter is that for most online businesses, search engines are definitely not the most effective way to promote a web site. In fact, depending primarily on the products and services you're marketing they can be almost useless.

NOTE: This site is a MUST SEE at least once.... and one I suggest you bookmark if Search Engine submissions concern you in the least.

Dynamics in Document Design: Creating Text for Readers This book is about how people read and create documents. It provides a close look at readers-in-action as they try to make sense of the documents typically found at home, at work, or at school. Includes numerous examples and case studies to assist writers and designers in creating usable documents.

The Leonoid Meteor Display was awesome!!!!!! We were out there from 0100-0230 and lost count in the first ten minutes. It you missed it, aww man, that's a major bummer. If you knew about it but thought it wasn't worth getting up in the middle of the night for.... again... major bummer!!!! SpaceWeather.com has photos of the Leonoids for you!!

Oh geez oh geez... it's been two weeks again already. I'm so sorry. Life here just gets so stinking busy. There are only 30 days left in this semester - I can't believe it. My first semester teaching hasn't been a good one. Not really a bad one either, but it's to be expected I s'pose.

What's to say really; school, work, web design for work, redesigning my personal sites - RTX1 and XXDZ - in my "free" time - which I shouldn't be allowed any of, since I am so far behind in so many other areas. English classes, eee-ghads, it was feeling like I did nothing but eat, sleep, and poop English... I sort of shut down this past week. I didn't even go to my English classes. I know - - bad bad bad student, but I needed a break before I exploded. Hey - at least I know myself well enough to see that before I shut down... back to the grind stone now though.

The two websites I'm working on right now are AK Mini Quilts and the Fairbanks Recourse Center for Parents and Children (RCPC) which are MOCKS indicated by the fact they're currently living on my own business site in a folder called "mock"!! This lets the clients look at them and make changes before I actually publish to their real website. I'm also s'posed to be working on AK Biz and AK StartUp (which I have been working on since late spring) but these are "Slash" sites (a programming language) and I just have troubles with them... so they're sort of been put off while I was working on the first two. Of course my current class 'stuff' can be viewed at my UAF Course Springboard but I haven't added anything new in the past two weeks.

My Latest personal project was winterizing a standard VariKennel for Emit.... my spoiled rotten dog who weights in at 125 pounds but THINKS he is a Chihuahua..... you can view those photos at my Digicam Photo Album Central and of course my current schedule can be viewed on Yahoo!, which I try to keep current.

I hope to add some more photos TODAY as we have gotten about 8 inches of new fluffy snows and it's truly a beautiful winter wonderland outside.... I would like to share with you what I see!! I'll try to get those photos up today.     Last Sat night Joe, Emit, and I were outside freezing looking up trying to see the miraculous display of Leonoids.... only to realize Sunday that the display is THIS Saturday. For more information on the Leonoids visit the Yahoo! story and the Space.com coverage.

geez... i hope someone is actually reading these..... :o)
adendum: I did get to take and post photos of today's snowy beauty.... too bad the pictures just don't show you what I see!!

have any idea how many times I have tried to get back here to add more info to the bLog? well... it's been several times.....

okay, this last week has pretty much been the usual: a schedule with no holes in it, forcing myself to go to bed by midnight (vs. my preferred 3-4 am) so I can get up around 0630 (vs my preferred 10am) so I can get a few hours of writing in for the current English paper I am working on before my day actually starts at 10 am. My alarm clocks (7 of them) are set for 0730, however I have no way to set Emit (my dog) to daylight savings time... so I've been getting up at 0630 and it's not getting any more enjoyable. I never have figured that out... I can sleep through all 7 alarm clocks without even trying to (I do have 4 more on hand when I'm in doubt) but I can't seem to sleep through the dog! Maybe because the dog might pee on the floor if I don't get up whereas the clocks will eventually shut up.

The routine is pretty much the same: get up, go to the outhouse, plug in the truck, make a cup o cocoa with a little coffee in it, write or rewrite for a couple of hours, then start the work I have assigned for Third Sector. If I have no work assigned for TST I work on homework (these days, English) but remain available for TST to call on if need be. After my block of work time is homework time..... which I can always fill with more English, although I do have a couple of other classes this semester, one of which I have not even started yet...SHAME on me. When that block is completed I move on to working on my website for the class I teach on Saturdays, which I swear is moving at a snails pace. For my first class it was really giving me a complex. I guess I just have a very low key group, but there is just no energy in there. Last Thursday however I filled in for Chris who teaches the same class but on Thursday nights, and it was great. I was right back in the groove that got me this job in the first place. I really needed that!! Then I have what is on the schedule as, free time, which is actually filled with more English these days. Seems like that is all I am doing anymore. I have actually contemplated defecting to another country so I wouldn't have to do anymore English, but I love being an American, so English it is. Of course that free time is there to spend with Joe if we happen to have coordinating times. And then it's more of the same until midnight when it starts all over again. Sprinkled throughout are various appointments, meetings, luncheons, errands, etc.

Every Friday out office gets together for a rigorous game of basketball. Last week not even ten minutes into the game I hurt my finger. I'm no wussy, I wasn't going to quit playing just because of that. ............... Directly after the game I beelined to the nearest jewelry store to plea for them to cut off my ring... I know better than to wear jewelry during sports. Then straight to the first aid section of the grocery store to get a splint and tape. I thought for sure I broke it. But it is a finger and I know there is nothing they can do for fingers and toes. I promised Joe that if it wasn't better by Monday I would go see the doctor. I couldn't stand the splint... it got in the way of my mouse and keyboard. I think I wore it all of an hour accumulatively throughout the whole weekend. The finger is fine now.... I can almost make a fist and almost straighten it out, it's almost back to normal color. Good thing too, because today is Wednesday... and we play again on Friday!

Today I spent about an hour online shopping for my poor, neglected, abused dog. He's being forced to spend much time in the back of the truck while I am in classes or at work. Without Princess there for him to snuggle up with, he's cold and shivering when I return. So there is a new fleece and wool dog jacket on order with fleece lined hard soled boots to match. This is ridiculous......

I am pretty sure I am getting sick too.... possibly just a cold, maybe a sinus infection. I've had troubles with my throat ever since I had my tonsils out in Aug., lately it's just so damn dry. Constantly sucking on candy or those lozenges that are sposed to "soothe" your throat... (whatever - they DON'T!).... and this past week it's horrible headaches, the last couple days I'm freezing... and the temp inhere is standing at 74 degrees.... still cold. I have class tonight 6-9... and for the last two hours I have been HARD fighting the urge to go to bed. Feel very tired and my head is throbbing.....

I could go on... but of course, I have to leave for class in an hour and would like to go over tonight's paper just one more time. Yeah - I'm so busy with English, I even made my assignments their own website, so I can keep track of them wherever I am.

*sigh* p a t h e t i c !!
